Artist Statement
I work in textiles because I am drawn to the versatility, malleability and strength of cloth. Each piece of plain cloth I start with is waiting for me to reveal the magical colors, shapes and textures that lie within. Cloth is forgiving and patient; sometimes a piece waits for months or years for me to reveal its depths. I too am patient. I wait until the mood, desire and inspiration come to me, usually unbidden, often early in the morning. We never rush. The cloth and I work together to reveal my vision.
Even brand-new cloth has a sense of history and humanity, untold stories, and glimpses into something as yet unseen or unknown.
I make invisible visible.
